Feb. 3 - It's The Woke Folk Again

Today is our cold day.  We knew it was coming but dang, to see the real temp at -9 and wind chill temp at -26 is a jolt anyway.  We currently have a wind chill advisory until noon.  And I have an oil change appointment this morning.  Brrrrr!  Maybe my car won't even start and I can just stay home.

Temps jump up tomorrow and will be in the mid-upper 30s for the next week, so that's good.

Here is the latest puzzle.  I finished this one yesterday.  Only 750 pieces but still a nice enough challenge.  It's kind of a busy scene and the photo isn't great, but it's a farm garden scene.  Hubby picked the next puzzle already, which is kind of funny because I thought we might be done with them for a while.

So okay, something happened yesterday that really pissed me off and is still sort of a slow boil for me.  I'd just been talking a bit in yesterday's post about the woke folk, the social justice warriors, and how they don't stop and think before they jump all over something.  Well, on another blog I follow there was a new post about Harry's book and in the comments on the post there was a mix of people who are either for or against Harry & Meghan.  I think more were against, and it was mainly Meghan they are against.  That part is all fine, but then sure enough, here comes someone . . . posting anonymously, by the way . . . crying racism, and that no one would be attacking her if she wasn't black.  Um, no.  Racism has nothing to do with it.  If you're behaving badly, it doesn't matter what color your skin is or where you come from.  Bad behavior is bad behavior.  I wanted to fire back at this person but I didn't want to fuel those flames on some else's blog.  Other people did though, which I was secretly glad to see.  But there we go again, so quick to play the race card without stopping to look at the situation.

It just pisses. me. off.

And for the record, I am a Royal Watcher to some extent.  I loooooove Tudor history, love the long standing traditions of the monarchy even though they no longer have power.  I used to like Harry.  I loved the show Suits, which Meghan was known for first, but even then she sort of rubbed me the wrong way.  I was interested and intrigued when the two of them got together and I absolutely loved their wedding!  But then it all fall apart and I do believe she is the driving force behind all that.  On one hand, you could see it as Harry finally finding someone who gave him strength to break away.  Good for him if that's really what he needed for himself.  On the other hand, they claim they just needed to get away from that life to be able to live away from the paparazzi and scrutiny, yet they continue to keep putting themselves in the spotlight.  It's like they are determined to keep pushing their story to prove they were wronged or whatever they claim, like they haven't won over enough people so they keep trying.  To what end?  You wanted to break away and live your lives, so go do that!  I think I still like Harry, just not with Meghan stirring the pot.  (I have not read Spare, yet.  Not sure if I will.)

Once again, no one needs to come at me in the comments.  We are all entitled to our own opinions.

With that, I am off.  Like I said, I have to brave the cold for that car appointment, and then I'm hoping to play play play the free version of my game today.

Happy Friday, y'all!

  1. I always feel that woke people pulling the racist card are the biggest racists themselves, because they are the ones focussing on someones color.
My husband always says: if I say you're a jerk it's not because of the color of your skin, it's because you are.
Gosh, it's so cold where you are! Hope you can get back to the warmth of your home fast.

    1. Yes!!!! I've thought that too and wanted to say it many times but didn't know how to word it.

And yes again. If you're a jerk, you're a jerk. Exactly what I was saying. But no, we can't say that these days.

The journey out for the oil change was quick and uneventful. Car struggled a bit to start, but all was fine otherwise. I was back home in a little over an hour. And they had free cookies in the waiting room. =)

  2. I have to chime in here because I totally agree with everything you and Maggie said regarding Harry & Meghan, and woke people playing the racist card constantly - it's really getting old. I love how you said, "we are entitled to our own opinions" because we are, but many no longer see it that way. In other words, if you don't agree with them then you are not entitled to your own opinion. It's ridiculous! Ok, I could honestly go on and on here, but I won't. Ok, now back to ordering Valentine's Day candy! Have a good weekend! It's going to be a cold one here, as well.

    1. LOL Yes, I could go on and on about it too, and get quite riled up. And where you said, "if you don't agree with them then you are not entitled to your own opinion," is exactly right. If you don't agree, then they turn it all around on you and lump you into one group or another that they are against. And that's another thing I can't stand, the whole liberal, conservative, left, right, whatever. I am not any of those, and whoever is trying to label me as one of them doesn't even know me so how can they? I don't subscribe to the theory that all [insert group here] have the same thoughts and beliefs on all the same things.

Okay, yeah, getting riled up. LOL!!!!!

  3. Yes! I totally agree with you! I also am a royal fan and liked Harry. I'm not a Megan fan because like you said she stirs the pot and is always trying to make things about her. And it has nothing to do with her skin color. I have family and friends that have darker skin than I do and it makes no difference, it's the way a person acts!

    1. Exactly! If you're being a jerk, you're being a jerk.

So Meghan likes to think she's a revolutionary, going all the way back to her childhood. Did she think she was going to change the monarchy?? And it was going to be even more amazing because she did it at 'spare' level and not ruling level? And ohhhh, look at all the wonderful things Meghan has done to bring the monarchy into the modern ages.....? That has to be what she envisioned.

  4. I admit I got my feathers a little ruffled at the "woke" comment - seems that term has been made derogatory by conservatives who have no tolerance for anyone else - but agree with you about Megan! And Harry too, to be honest. Choosing to leave the royal family is fine, but the whining drives me nuts (were you unaware of the responsibilities of marrying into the monarchy?)and the airing of family members dirty laundry is both unnecessary and tawdry. In my opinion ;)

  5. I was raised in a Royal-loving home and was myself a huge fan. I too blamed all this hoopla on Megan, on her stirring the pot. Then I watched the Harry and Megan Netflix program, and this time, I put myself in Megan's shoes. I've done a complete turn around. And while I don't agree with the degree of "news" coming from them both, I do understand why they want to get their whole story out there before the Palace does. Let's give them a chance; and let's take off the rose-tinted glasses when it comes to the Royals. They have warts just like the rest of us.

    1. I don't think anyone here has said the Royals are perfect. The interest for me is the centuries of monarchy history.
