June 7 - An Anniversary and a Birthday

Hello!  Sunny and 51 degrees on this Wednesday morning in Wisconsin.  The haze from Canadian fires is mild this morning.  Are you getting that where you live?  Some days it looks like actual fog, or like it's dark and rainy.  Today looks pretty nice so far.

Today is this guy's 12th birthday.  Happy Birthday, Minion!  Oh, this cat is such a character.  He came to us in a big way and has taken over the house since that first moment.  We found him as a tiny kitten, clinging to the screen of one our windows by the front porch, screaming bloody murder.  We live in the country and random cats taking up residence in our old shed are not surprising, so we thought there was just another mama cat with some kittens around.  But nope, we never did see his family so he came to be our indoor cat.  And he's been cracking us up with antics and bossiness ever since.

It's also anniversary time, although I missed posting about it yesterday.  I don't recall the actual date I started this blog but my first post in returning to blogging was on June 6, 2022.  I had been wanting to do a little giveaway for this 1st anniversary.  Hadn't expected to be on my impromptu break though, and never did get anything organized.  Since my first post was June 6, I'm going to use that as my anniversary date.  It wasn't until August when I really started putting effort into growing this blog, and started finding other blogs to connect with and network through.  I have a nice little group of new bloggy friends and quite a few blogs I enjoy reading, so the work was worth it.  I want to grow my blog even more, and figure out just what it is I hope to get out of it all.  All of that is sort of on hold at the moment, while I enjoy not blogging at all.  LOL

I've noticed most of the blogs I was following regularly have fallen silent most of the time too.  I don't know if everyone just has circumstances in their lives that keep them away, or if it's just the normal way of things when the weather warms up and people get busier.  For myself,  I don't like inconsistent posting.  Funny, I know, since that's exactly what I'm doing lately.  I don't like it though.  I'm very much an 'all or nothing' type when it comes to blogging.  So we'll see if this 'happy to not do it' feeling passes and I can get back into a groove of posting daily.  No promises either way at this point though!  lol

Well, I just wanted to pop in post about these couple of things, and keep this blog somewhat alive.  Hope you all are doing well and enjoying summer.  We desperately need rain here.  Do you??

  1. Oh, we need rain too! The wildfire smoke is bad here today, too. It's reached over 400 on the air quality chart, anything over a hundred is bad, central NY state is just in the thick of it right now. We have no AC, but our windows are all closed now, everything looks orange-y. The lighting is very cool, looks like Stranger Things or something, but it's not so great to be breathing such smoky air. Ideally, I would blog every day, but life interferes sometimes. Today is a very normal, uneventful day, I have packed for my Florida trip (leaving tomorrow until Tuesday), and I need to vacuum and do some housework...yawn. I don't mind, but is it interesting? nah. :). Love that kitty-cat. He's a cutie.

    1. My sister lives in Painted Post, NY and was saying yesterday it's really bad there. She was getting headaches and her husband's asthma was acting up. It's not nearly as bad here as it sounds like you guys are having it. There is only a very slight haze once the day really gets going, and I don't smell the smokiness today. This has been going on for a couple weeks now. How bad are those fires in Canada??

Yeah, my boring days are not worth blogging about most times either, and that's one of the things I end up struggling with. Like, if this is all my life is, should I really be bothering with a blog? lol

Minion the kitty is cute and he knows it. He's bossy too. Like the jokes and memes about cats say, we really are his servants. LOL!

  2. Hello! Here in Pennsylvania we have bad air quality from the wildfires, and it is so strange. Yesterday we had a red alert. Today it is down to orange, but it is still smokey outside. We are staying indoors!

    1. Today is the first day I haven't seen an air quality alert pop up on my phone. I've never checked what level or number the quality has been around here but it definitely sounds like you folks out that way have been getting it worse. Hope it settles down for all involved!
